Woah Look At All This Cool Stuff
I want to take a bit of a breather after yesterday’s post, so I’m going to mention a bunch of stuff I saw recently that was cool and good. This is also now officially past the halfway point of Blaugust, I didn’t think I’d maintain this much posting regularity!
Blogs
- Saw Virtual Moose’s blog post about joining RetroAchievements, I’m slowly converting people! There is a mention of no DOS games yet - and while that is sad and true, they are working on it! There’s some technical stuff that has to get worked out - like how to process game hashes for DOS game identification - but hopefully it’s out soon.
- A Japanese language self-study guide by Renkon, and it is thorough! I need to go through it some time, the last time I tried learning Japanese was Duolingo some years back, and uh I am not going back to them.
- Trysdyn wrote a post about how payment processors work in the wake of all the Valve and Itch.io payment processor fallout. It’s a very good view of this situation with knowledge of how the inside of it works.
- Eniko made a virtual machine called Bismuth and she’s running “Hello world” in it!
Webcomics
- Swan Boy resumed posting updates this week, it’s currently in the middle of an amazing Giallo tribute story arc.
- Clown Corps also started posting updates again, two weeks ago after a brief hiatus. This looks to be closing out the current arc, if you hafven’t seen Clown justice yet I highly recommend this comic!
- Dead Winter finished up a Queen musical number a couple weeks back! It’s a great zombie comic that’s been running for a long time now, go read it!
- POKEY THE PENGUIN HAS AN ANIMATION NOW! ITS REALLY BIG BUDGET!!! YAY POKEY!!!!!!!
Games
- Hidden Dinosaur by the amazing Harold Krell now has a storepage, go wishlist and follow it! He’s also working on Louny Balloony, which he posts updates for over on Bluesky.
- Sean Dick’s been posting so much footage of Puppy Truck over to Bluesky and it’s making a lot of progress!
- Chris Weisiger is posting updates of his game Torment Hexus over on Bluesky as well! It’s a spellcasting match game against literal and figurative corporate drones.
- The Raidou and the Undead Army remake came out a couple months ago and I need to get back into playing that. I only played its sequel on PS2 before, so it’s fun playing through this remake with all of the quality of life features Raidou 2 introduced.
